Legs & Aching or Swelling

Edema is the swelling caused by excess fluid in your body's tissues. It frequently occurs in the feet, ankles and legs because of the effects of gravity while walking or standing.

Causes of edema can include:

  • High salt intake
  • Heart failure
  • Kidney disease
  • Liver problems from cirrhosis
  • Advanced age
  • Problems with lymph nodes, especially after mastectomy
  • Some medicines
  • Prolonged standing or walking
  • Long airplane flights or automobile rides
  • Menstrual periods (for some women)
  • Pregnancy -- excessive swelling may be a sign of preeclampsia, a serious condition sometimes called toxemia, which includes high blood pressure and swelling
  • Obesity
  • Injury or trauma to the ankle or foot
  • Venous insufficiency (when leg veins are unable to adequately pump blood back to the heart)

Firm Stablizing

Provides a higher level of support using a combination of power Stretch and non-stretch materials and may include shock absorbing materials to help relieve symptoms associated with strains, sprains, arthritis, repetitive stress injuries and to help prevent re-injury.
